Link Mobile to Aadhaar
Link a new or first-time mobile number to your Aadhaar by visiting an Aadhaar Seva Kendra in person - UIDAI does not allow mobile number updates online since it needs biometric verification.
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Locate a Centre
Find your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or bank/post office offering Aadhaar services using the UIDAI centre locator.
Fill the Update Form
Request and fill the Aadhaar Update/Correction Form, entering the new mobile number to be linked.
Complete Biometric Verification
Provide a fingerprint or iris scan at the centre to authenticate the request; this in-person step is mandatory.
Pay the Fee
Pay the standard ₹50 update fee at the centre and collect your acknowledgment slip with the URN.
Confirm via SMS
Once processed (typically within 24-48 hours), you'll receive a confirmation SMS on the new number; OTP services start working immediately after.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- Mobile number updates cannot be done online or via the myAadhaar portal - this is one of the few changes UIDAI requires in person, every time.
- Without a linked mobile number, you can't generate Aadhaar OTPs for e-KYC, so many banking and government services will be inaccessible.
- Carry your physical Aadhaar card or a printout showing your Aadhaar number when visiting the centre.
