New Aadhaar Card
Enrol for a new Aadhaar card in person at a UIDAI Aadhaar Enrolment/Seva Kendra - biometric capture cannot be completed online, but you can book your appointment and track status digitally.
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Book an Appointment
Visit UIDAI's appointment portal (appointments.uidai.gov.in) or an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and book a slot; walk-ins are also accepted at most centres.
Carry Original Documents
Bring original Proof of Identity, Proof of Address, and Date of Birth documents; the operator verifies and scans them at the centre.
Biometric Enrolment
Your photograph, all ten fingerprints, and both iris scans are captured at the centre; this step must be done in person and cannot be skipped.
Collect Enrolment Slip
You receive a printed acknowledgment slip with your Enrolment ID (EID) and enrolment date - keep it safe to track status.
Track and Download
Check status using your EID on the UIDAI website; once generated (usually 60-90 days), download the e-Aadhaar or order a PVC card online.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- Aadhaar enrolment for a NEW card cannot be completed fully online - biometric capture always requires an in-person visit.
- Children under 5 get a blue Bal Aadhaar (no biometrics) that must be updated with biometrics at age 5 and again at 15.
- Keep your Enrolment ID (EID) safe - you'll need it to download your e-Aadhaar before the physical card arrives.
