PAN Card Correction
Correct errors in your existing PAN card details - like name spelling, date of birth, or address - through the Protean/UTIITSL correction portal without changing your PAN number.
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
1
Select 'Correction' Application
On the Protean/UTIITSL PAN portal, choose 'Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data', not a fresh application.
2
Enter Existing PAN Details
Provide your current PAN number and fill in only the fields that need correction; leave the rest unchanged.
3
Upload Proof for the Change
Attach a supporting document specific to the correction (e.g. a gazette notification or marriage certificate for a name change).
4
Pay the Correction Fee
Pay the applicable fee (similar to a new PAN application) online.
5
Receive the Corrected PAN
A new PAN card is issued with the same PAN number but updated details, dispatched within 15-20 days.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- Your PAN number never changes during a correction - only the demographic details printed on the card are updated.
- Attach proof specific to the field being corrected; a generic ID proof alone is often not accepted for name or DOB corrections.
- Cross-check your Aadhaar details first, since many corrections are needed because PAN and Aadhaar don't match.
