Pay online and book your appointment at a convenient Passport Seva Kendra.
5
Submit Old Passport at PSK
Hand over your current passport for verification and cancellation; complete biometrics if required.
6
Receive New Passport
The renewed passport is dispatched by post, typically faster than a fresh application (10-15 days) if no fresh police verification is needed.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- If your passport has ECNR status and is still within its last-renewal window, police verification is often waived, speeding up the process.
- Apply for renewal at least 6-12 months before expiry to avoid travel disruptions, especially for visa applications.
- Your old passport is retained/cancelled once the new one is issued - keep a photocopy for your records beforehand.
