Apply for Piped Gas (PNG)
Apply for a new Piped Natural Gas (PNG) domestic connection through your city's gas distribution company (Indraprastha Gas Limited in Delhi, Mahanagar Gas in Mumbai, Adani Total Gas, Gujarat Gas) - available only where city gas infrastructure has reached your area.
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Check PNG Availability in Your Area
Visit your city gas distribution company's website (IGL, MGL, Adani Total Gas, Gujarat Gas) and enter your pincode/locality to confirm the pipeline network has reached your street.
Submit the Online Application
Fill the new domestic PNG connection form with your address, ownership status, and upload scanned ID/address proof and the NOC if you're a tenant.
Pay the Registration and Security Deposit
Pay the registration fee and refundable security deposit online or at the company's customer care centre; charges vary by city gas company.
Site Survey and Feasibility Check
A technician visits your home to assess pipe routing from the street main to your kitchen and confirms the feasibility and estimated internal piping cost.
Pipeline Installation and Safety Check
After you pay the internal piping cost, technicians lay the pipe up to your meter, conduct a pressure/leak test, and hand over the connection.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- PNG is usually cheaper per unit than LPG cylinders in the long run since it's billed on actual metered usage - useful for high-consumption households.
- Applications are only accepted where the company has already laid mains in your locality - if unavailable, you can register interest for future rollout.
- Never attempt to extend or repair PNG pipes yourself - always call the gas company's emergency helpline for any smell of gas or pipe damage.
