Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Check Eligibility
Confirm you are aged 18-50 years with an active bank account; cover continues up to age 55 as long as premiums are paid on time.
Submit Enrolment Form
Fill and submit the PMJJBY consent-cum-declaration form at your bank branch, or opt in via net-banking/mobile banking; a self-declaration of good health is needed if joining after the annual enrolment window.
Authorise Annual Premium Debit
Give your bank a standing mandate to auto-debit Rs 436 from your account between 1 June and 31 May each year, the scheme's annual coverage cycle.
Add/Update Nominee
Record or update your nominee's details with the bank so the death benefit is paid without disputes; review the nominee whenever your family situation changes.
Renew Annually
The policy auto-renews each 1 June as long as the premium debit succeeds; if you exit the bank account or opt out, you must re-enrol with a fresh health declaration.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- The Rs 436/year premium (revised from Rs 330 in 2022) covers death due to any cause, unlike PMSBY which only covers accidental death and disability.
- You can hold only one PMJJBY policy across all bank accounts; joining after age 50 or via multiple accounts can lead to claim rejection.
- If you miss a premium payment and the policy lapses, you can be reinstated within a limited window by paying arrears and submitting a fresh health declaration.
