PM Suraksha Bima Yojana

Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Check Eligibility
Confirm you hold a savings bank account, are aged 18-70 years, and do not already have a PMSBY policy through another bank account.
Submit Enrolment/Consent Form
Download the PMSBY consent-cum-application form from jansuraksha.gov.in or your bank's website, or opt in via net-banking/mobile banking of your bank.
Give Auto-Debit Mandate
Authorise your bank to auto-debit the annual premium of Rs 20 from your account every year between 1 June and 31 May, the scheme's coverage cycle.
Receive Confirmation
Once the premium is debited, your bank sends an SMS confirmation and the policy stays active for the coverage year; keep the acknowledgement for records.
Renew Every Year
The cover auto-renews each year as long as the premium is successfully debited and consent is not withdrawn; ensure sufficient balance is maintained before 1 June each year.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- Premium is just Rs 20 per year (revised from Rs 12 in 2022) for Rs 2 lakh accidental death/full disability and Rs 1 lakh partial disability cover.
- You can hold only one PMSBY policy across all your bank accounts; enrolling from multiple accounts leads to rejection of duplicate claims.
- If a premium debit fails due to insufficient balance, the cover lapses for that year but you can re-enrol in the next cycle starting 1 June.
