Minority Scholarship Scheme
Apply for Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, or Merit-cum-Means minority scholarships for Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi, or Jain students through the Ministry of Minority Affairs' schemes on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Register as New Student on NSP
Go to scholarships.gov.in, select 'New Registration', and enter your Aadhaar number, mobile, category, and institution details to generate a student login.
Select the Right Minority Scheme
Choose Pre-Matric (classes 1-10), Post-Matric (class 11 onward/college), or Merit-cum-Means (professional/technical courses) based on your current level of study.
Fill Application and Upload Documents
Enter personal, academic, and bank details, then upload the community certificate, income certificate, previous marksheet, and bonafide certificate as scanned PDFs/images.
Institution Verification
Your school/college's nodal officer logs into the NSP institution module to verify your enrolment, attendance, and fee details before forwarding the application.
State Nodal Verification and Disbursal
After the state minority welfare department's nodal officer verifies and approves the application, the scholarship amount is directly credited to your Aadhaar-linked bank account via DBT.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- Apply well before the NSP deadline (typically October-November for renewal and fresh applications) since the portal closes strictly on the cut-off date each year.
- Renewal applicants must apply every academic year with updated marksheets - the scholarship does not continue automatically without re-application.
- Keep your bank account, Aadhaar, and mobile number consistent across years; mismatches are the most common reason for DBT credit failures and delays.
