Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Register on the National Portal
Create an account on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your state, electricity consumer number, mobile number, and email.
Apply for DISCOM Feasibility Approval
Submit a net-metering feasibility application to your local DISCOM and get it approved before any installation begins - starting work without this approval can cause connection issues later.
Choose a Vendor and Install the System
Select an empanelled vendor listed on the portal and get the solar system installed matching your approved capacity.
Submit Plant Details and Request Net Meter
After installation, submit the plant capacity and vendor details on the portal, then request DISCOM to install the net meter.
Commissioning Report and Subsidy Disbursal
After DISCOM's inspection and net meter installation, generate the commissioning certificate on the portal, submit bank details, and the subsidy is credited directly to your account via DBT.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- The subsidy is about Rs 30,000/kW for the first 2kW and Rs 18,000/kW for the next 1kW, capped at roughly Rs 78,000 for systems of 3kW and above - check current rates on the portal as these are revised periodically.
- Never let the vendor begin installation before DISCOM's feasibility approval - unapproved installations can face connection or subsidy disbursal issues.
- Monitor your generation through the portal or app to track savings - typical payback period is around 4-6 years depending on usage and local tariffs.
