TNEA Engineering Counsel
Register on the TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) online portal using your Class 12 marks to get a merit rank, then complete document verification and web-based counselling to choose your engineering college and branch.
Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Register on the TNEA Portal
Visit tneaonline.org and register with your Class 12 register number, personal details, and mobile/email to generate a TNEA application number.
Fill Application and Upload Certificates
Fill in academic marks, choose reservation category if applicable, and upload scanned community, nativity, and transfer certificates along with your Class 12 mark sheet.
Certificate Verification at a CVC
Visit your allotted Certificate Verification Centre (CVC) - usually a government engineering college - with original documents on your assigned date to get your rank and eligibility confirmed.
Participate in Web Counselling Rounds
Log in during your allotted counselling slot to lock in college and branch preferences online based on your rank; TNEA runs multiple rounds (including supplementary rounds) as seats get allotted and vacated.
Confirm Seat and Report to College
Once a seat is allotted in a round, pay the confirmation fee online and report to the allotted engineering college within the given deadline with original certificates to complete admission.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- TNEA merit rank is based purely on your Class 12 marks (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) - there is no separate entrance exam, unlike many other states' engineering admissions.
- Attend certificate verification (CVC) in person on your assigned date - missing it can disqualify you from that round of counselling even with a good rank.
- Rank order and vacancy-position choices change between counselling rounds, so recheck seat matrix availability before locking your final college/branch preference order each round.
