Required Documents

Land record (Khasra/Khatauni) or tenant farmer's sowing certificate/agreement showing crop and area sown
Aadhaar card and bank account passbook for premium debit and claim payout
Self-declaration/proof of crop sown (crop sowing certificate from Patwari/Gram Panchayat) for non-loanee farmers

Step-by-Step Process

1

Check the Notified Crop and Cut-off Date

Confirm your district and notified crop are covered for the season (Kharif/Rabi) and note the enrollment cut-off date, since PMFBY is compulsory for loanee farmers and optional for others.

2

Enroll Online or Through Bank/CSC

Loanee farmers are auto-enrolled by their bank at loan disbursal unless they opt out in writing; non-loanee farmers apply on pmfby.gov.in or at a bank/CSC with land and sowing details.

3

Pay the Subsidized Premium

Pay only your share of the premium - 2% for Kharif crops, 1.5% for Rabi crops, and 5% for horticultural/commercial crops - the rest is subsidized by central and state governments.

4

Report Crop Loss Within 72 Hours

In case of localized calamity (hailstorm, landslide, flood), report the loss through the Crop Insurance app, helpline, or bank/insurance company within 72 hours of the event.

5

Verification and Claim Settlement

Loss is assessed via Crop Cutting Experiments (CCE) or satellite/drone-based yield estimation, and the claim amount is credited directly to the farmer's Aadhaar-linked bank account.
