Pro Tips & Warnings
- GST registration is mandatory once annual turnover crosses Rs 40 lakh for goods (Rs 20 lakh for services) in most states, but voluntary registration is allowed below that too.
- Choose the Composition Scheme if your turnover is under Rs 1.5 crore for simpler quarterly returns and lower tax rates, but you lose input tax credit.
- Keep your GSTIN certificate displayed at your principal place of business, as required by law, and file returns even if there's no business activity in a period.
