Required Documents
Step-by-Step Process
Check Eligibility
Eligibility is based on the SECC 2011/Awaas+ survey - houseless families or those living in kutcha/dilapidated houses under specified deprivation criteria qualify.
Verify Listing in Awaas+ Survey
If not already on the permanent waitlist, get surveyed and listed through your Gram Panchayat or Block Development Office under the ongoing Awaas+ survey.
Verify Name in the Beneficiary List
Check your name and registration number in the beneficiary list on pmayg.dord.gov.in, or through the Gram Sabha's public display of the list.
Link Bank Account and Complete Geo-tagging
Link an Aadhaar-seeded bank account for DBT payments, and get the proposed house construction site geo-tagged in the AwaasSoft system.
Construction and Installment Release
Build the house in stages - installments of the total assistance (about Rs 1.2 lakh in plains, Rs 1.3 lakh in hilly/difficult areas) are released via DBT after geo-tagged photo verification of each stage.
Pro Tips & Warnings
- The core eligibility rule is that no member of the household should own a pucca house anywhere in India - this is verified during the survey.
- Combine this scheme with MGNREGA's 90 days of unskilled wage support for construction labour and the Swachh Bharat Mission's toilet assistance.
- Keep your Aadhaar-seeded bank account active and correctly linked - DBT installment delays are most often caused by seeding mismatches.
